The collection of designer Kenzo Takada under the hammer
On 11 May 2021, Artcurial will hold a special auction: the sale of furniture from the apartment of Kenzo Takada, the legendary designer and icon of fashion.
Set in his Parisian apartment, where Kenzo spent the last years of his life, this collection of furniture, paintings, objects, works of art and fashion pieces, displays a subtle balance between the influences of East and West, reflecting the free spirit of this creative genius.

Le département Estampes & Multiples donne rendez-vous aux collectionneurs et amateurs d'art à la fin du mois de mai à l’occasion de sa vente Limited Edition. Cette vente dédiée aux multiples des plus grands artistes des XXe – XXIe siècle présentera un chapitre consacré au Maître espagnol Pablo Picasso, incluant aussi bien des estampes (lithographies, gravures, linogravures …) que des céramiques.
Ces œuvres ont en commun d’être originales quoique multiples et le Maître s’est distingué dans ces deux disciplines.

From Italy to France, a European Passion
On 9th June, the Old Master & 19th Century department will hold a sale dedicated to the collection From Italy to France, a European Passion.
Matthieu Fournier and his team will offer you a glimpse of this collection, which honors French artists who lived and worked in Italy. This collection is composed of artworks by Joseph Vernet, Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre, Charles-Joseph Natoire, Jacques Stella and Joseph-Marie Vien.

New World Record for a Comic Strip Artwork
Artcurial beats the world record for an original comic book board with The Blue Lotus by Hergé! On Thursday 14th January, Artcurial offered this exceptional work at auction, never seen before on the market: the project by Hergé for the cover of the original edition of The Blue Lotus, a 1936 album of Tintin. The work was sold for €3.2 M, also becoming Hergé’s new world record.
Looking back at 2020
The year 2020 was notably marked by a number of records and millionaire auctions, such as an important stabile by Alexander Calder sold for €4.9M and the masterpiece the Penitent Magdalene by Salaì, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci, which sold for €1.7M. Find out more in our video…

The prestigious Old Master & 19th Century Art auction organised on 18 November 2020 totals €5,694,300, well above its estimate, with 10 lots sold above €100,000 including “A Fishing Boat” by Jean-François Millet at €505,000 and “Why born enslaved?” by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux at €306,600.
