- Over €90,000 worth of work
- Rare model, in excellent condition
- High-performance and elegant saloon
- No reserve
This RHD Bristol 405 was first registered in March 1956; little is known about the car’s history until 2004, when Brian May (a great enthusiast of the make) acquired it. As the car was part of a major collection, it seems the car was barely used at that time. Indeed, there is a MOT record from June 2007 at 76,271 miles and another from April 2010 at 76,316 miles.
The current owner acquired the car in October 2010. As a family man seeking a highly elegant saloon, he chose a model that is rarely seen on our roads. Over the past sixteen years, the car was kept in working order and presented in excellent condition by various specialists, primarily the Tisserand workshop. In 2019, the latter carried out a full repaint and a partial restoration of the interior. In total, we estimate that over €90,000 was spent on work over several years; the entire car was redone, with the exception of the leather upholstery that the owner wisely chose to keep in its original condition. In 2026 the brakes has been redone by Etient (invoice of 2000 €).
With less than 82,000 miles on the clock today, this is a car that has been used sparingly over the last two decades, having recently benefited from a major aesthetic makeover.
Rare and little-known in Europe, the 405 is one of the most beautiful saloon cars of the 1950s. It is clear the intention was to retain the overall design of the sublime 404 Coupe, while adding two extra doors. Now in nice condition and in the same hands for over fifteen years, the next owner will have the pleasure of driving an exclusive, elegant and high-performance car at a price well below some of its competitors.
