The striking design of this car is as menacing as it is mysterious, with its two enormous tubes surrounding the cockpit and swooping down into the bonnet at the rear: are they the nozzles of a jet engine or pipes for a supercharger? Or the backbone of some strange creature? In fact, they are ducts which help the car's aerodynamics by drawing in air at the front and expelling it through the tail panel. They also serve as roll hoops.

In an equally original way, the car was created by students at Franco Sbarro’s Espera centre in response to an order from one of his friends, Ludwig Binder, who wanted a special Ferrari Testarossa. Sbarro began by getting his students to drive the Testarossa which would serve as the basis for the project on the track at Lignières, so that they could absorb its sporting character, before they started work on the design of this highly original polyester-bodied car, which was displayed at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show. Its Alcador name, which was just as mysterious, came from the first names of the owner's three daughters: Aline, Catherine and Dorine. This extreme roadster, built using the Testarossa’s chassis and 12-cylinder engine, has scissor-like wings, special wheels, huge side air scoops with clear panels behind them, and a sporty interior with a central dashboard and black seats separated by a large strut.

The Alcador we are offering for sale is understood to be the second of the three cars built: as well as this one, there was a grey car with a red interior and a red car with a black interior.

Won over by its remarkable appearance, Fritz Neuser bought the car in 2005. Based on a 1988 Testarossa, it was registered in Germany with the date of first registration and the chassis number of the Ferrari donor car, but as a Sbarro Alcador. It had been serviced by Ferrari Kroymans in Nuremberg. It is in beautiful cosmetic condition and will give its owner a free pass to many historic events, as well as the assurance that he will not go unnoticed as he savours the outstanding performance and enthralling sound of its Ferrari flat-twelve.
