Following the Kangoo Break'Up in 2002, Renault went further in the field of leisure vehicles and, at the Brussels Motor Show two years later, presented another equally innovative concept car, the Deck’Up. Based on a widened and shortened Trafic van from 2000, it had increased ground clearance which, when combined with its permanent four-wheel drive, gave it excellent off-road capabilities. Attractively finished in a mixture of grey, orange and beige, the interior has an easy-to-use modular layout, with three seats that can rotate through 180° and a central shelf on a sliding mount. A special open compartment is located right at the back, separated from the rest of the vehicle by a retractable partition made of strips of Plexiglas. This can be reached by a door carrying the spare wheel and has a pair of small jump seats for two additional passengers. The pair of side doors meanwhile open in opposite directions, ensuring easy access to the interior. The Trafic is powered by a 2.5 dCi 16v engine producing 135bhp, intended to provide excellent performance for a small utility vehicle.

The Trafic Deck'Up offered for sale is in excellent original condition, but, as a one-off concept car, it cannot be registered for use on the road or driven on public roads. It nonetheless bears witness to the inventiveness of Renault’s designers in adapting to the leisure market, which was booming at the start of the 2000s.
