- Ingenious leisure-oriented concept car, absolutely unique
- Four-wheel drive
- Equipped with two Renault Sport concept bikes
- No reserve
Far removed from any highly ‘conceptual’ concept cars, the Kangoo Break'Up is practical and down-to-earth. Presented in August 2002 at the Val d’Isère Leisure Show, it developed the idea previously proposed by the Renault Rodéo. Its four-wheel drive, raised ground clearance, wider wheelarches and body protection give it off-road abilities ideal for use on rough tracks. The rear section is cut away like a pick-up and has two hinged doors opening inwards or outwards, making it easy to carry surfboards, skis or mountain bikes, such as the ingeniously mounted Renault Sport-badged concept bikes. The interior is finished in a daring combination of yellow and blue, the upholstery is hard-wearing and easily washable, and there are convenient storage compartments. Particular attention was given to making the car light and airy inside, thanks to a large, fixed glass roof and, at the rear, a glass division which can be retracted electrically. Apparently complete, this Kangoo Break'Up concept car was in working order when it was presented; finished in ‘Buttercup’ yellow, it is in good, original condition. Although it cannot be registered, it would be ideal for use at exhibitions or as an addition to an enthusiast’s collection: it demonstrates a subtle combination of sophisticated features and practical ingenuity.
