After its turbo years in Formula 1, Renault became ‘merely’ an engine supplier, providing its brilliant V10 engines to those teams who requested them, enabling Williams to win five world titles and Benetton one. In 2000, the French manufacturer decided to return to F1 with its own team by taking over Benetton, then competing under the Renault F1 Team name from 2002 onwards. The first car to race in these colours was the R202, followed in 2003 by the R23, which gave Fernando Alonso his first victory in a Grand Prix, which was also Renault’s first win after returning to Formula 1. Two years later, Renault won the F1 World Championship, with Alonso driving the R25 single-seater.

The car offered here is an evocation of the R23 and R24, equipped with running gear and some brake components, but without an engine. It is an exceptional show car built in Renault’s workshops in Enstone, in England, to celebrate the 600 races in which the manufacturer had competed. The car was subsequently used for promotional purposes and displayed at special events. In good condition, it would make an original decorative feature indoors or in the open air.
