24 Hours of Daytona, 5th and 6th February 1966: For the first time in many years, Ferrari’s supremacy in motorsport was challenged when the Ford GT40 MkII of Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby crossed the finish line in first position, followed by two other Ford MkII driven by both teams of Dan Gurney / Jerry Grant and Walt Hangsen / Mark Donohue respectively. It was an overwhelming success which would be consolidated three months later at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with once again three Ford GT40 MkII cars claiming the top spots on the podium, following a dual with Ferrari watched by enthusiasts worldwide.

To pay tribute to the Le Mans victory, Ford decided to launch its second-generation Ford GT, 50 years later. Unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show and powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 656 hp at 6,250 rpm, this incredible supercar could reach a top speed of almost 350 km/h (217 mph) and go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3 seconds. It is worth mentioning that in its competition version, this model won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class in 2016, exactly 50 years after the GT40 MkII’s victory overall. A magnificent nod to history!

This second-generation Ford GT succeeded the first Ford GT, which was primarily inspired by the GT40 of the 1960s, based on a design created and led by Camilo Pardo who headed the Ford’s Living Legends studio. It was initially shown as a concept car; it became so successful that Ford decided to produce it as a limited edition. Marketed from 2004, it featured a supercharged V8 engine developing 558 hp and a top speed of 320 km/h. In total, over 4,000 examples of this first version were produced.

This Ford GT was delivered new in France to its current and first owner at the end of 2021. It was during the model’s launch that he fell in love with the GT’s design. As a car enthusiast and discerning collector, he ordered the car with the most exclusive specifications possible by choosing to go with the desirable Studio Collection series. Limited to only 40 examples, the GT Studio Collection stands out from the crowd thanks to its extensive customization capabilities. Particularly elegant, the Studio Collection features a distinctive two-tone livery, which matches perfectly with the design of its bodywork. This model also differentiates itself thanks to its rare Liquid Red colour, an elegant dark red metallic colour that particularly reflects its depth in natural light. Among options chosen by the owner, they included the Dark Energy Upgrade, 20-inch gloss black forged aluminium wheels, red Brembo callipers, the carbon exterior package and the car cover. Due to lack of time to drive all his cars, the owner only drove 66 km at the wheel of this GT and this example is therefore extremely close-to-new condition. It is worth noting that since the French owner is a private individual, the car has the benefit of having its TVA (French VAT) paid in France and also being registered there.

The Ford GT is often considered as the most beautiful modern hypercar and will undoubtedly remain a timeless collector’s item for many enthusiasts. This particular car is one of a very few examples from the Studio Collection series delivered in Europe. Its configuration is particularly well conceived and will definitely attract many; this is certainly one of the most beautiful European Ford GT examples in existence.

Impact on VAT :

As the vehicle has been driven less than 6,000 kilometers, it can be considered “as new” for VAT purposes in certain European countries. Please contact your local tax authorities for confirmation prior to purchase. For a French buyer, a VAT of 20% will be charged on the hammer price and the premium.
