Comment:

This cross was donated by a military nobleman to a monastery whose location remains unknown today. It is decorated with exceptionally fine engravings.

Side 1: Saint George on horseback (“Saint George”), an archangel (wings added to the portrait of the Savior of the World), and the Crucified Christ without the Cross.

Inscription: “Cross of the fitawrari Telahun”, “Year of Grace 1906” (corresponding to 1913–1914 in the Gregorian calendar).

Side 2: Continuation of the inscription from Side 1: “who donated it to Däbrä Ferkuta, [the church of] Covenant of Grace.”

Inscriptions: “Saint Michael”, “Saint Gabriel”, “[Mary] with her beloved Son.”
