This car was converted from a 1969 Series 2 E-Type to produce a recreation freely inspired by the 12 Lightweight E-Types built by Jaguar for competition. The bodywork was modified in the style of the Series 1, with an aluminium boot lid and doors; the bonnet meanwhile was made from polyester with external latches and leather straps. The hardtop featured the small, riveted extractor from the original version, while the stripped-out interior had bucket seats, a special steering wheel, roll cage and modified dashboard. Hidden in the boot, there was a special fuel tank with a quick-release filler and high-flow design. Under the bonnet, the original 4.2-litre engine was bored out to 4.7 litres and equipped with a special cylinder head, competition camshafts, three Weber 45DCOE carburettors and a side exhaust, taking peak power to over 300bhp. Transmission was by means of a Tremec five-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The car is fitted with electric power steering, uprated brakes, adjustable suspension and Dunlop-type magnesium centre-lock wheels with wide tyres. It comes with a certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust (authenticating the original Series 2 car), a FIVA ID card and photographs of the restoration.

Completed in 2018, this impressive-looking machine was displayed for three months at the Belgian National Museum Autoworld in Brussels, as part of the 60th anniversary of the E-Type, as well as at the Auto Classics show in Bruges. Thierry Dehaeck acknowledges that it is the fastest car in his collection and one of the most impressive to drive, given its power and low weight. The standard of this car’s build does every justice to the genuine Lightweight E-Types and it will undoubtedly be especially effective on track, to the delight of both its future owner and the lucky spectators who will hear its roar at full throttle ...
