- Spectacular, extremely quick car

This car is the work of two motorsport enthusiasts, one of whom has devoted his life to the restoration and preparation of the most famous Italian cars (including several Gr.4 Michelotto 308s), while the other was in charge of testing at Magneti Marelli and also raced.

Dreaming of a Le Mans version of the Ferrari 308 GT4, like the one built by the factory and entered by the NART team in 1974 with Giancarlo Gagliardi and Jean-Louis Lafosse, they embarked on the venture, starting from a Ferrari 308 GT4 used in historic regularity events which they bought in 2015. Drawing on their wealth of experience, they turned to the best specialists they knew who had prepared several Gr.4 308s, to carry out the changes regardless of cost. The body was stripped to bare metal and, with its aluminium panels, wheelarch extensions and rear wing, was modified in Italy in the well-known workshop of Lino Cazzola (who had worked for Michelotto in period). The roll cage, satisfying the homologation requirements, was produced by Jacques Point’s metalwork shop in the Isère. All the components for the suspension (with lightweight wishbones), brakes (AP Racing) and steering were produced with the utmost care, seeking to conform as fully as possible to Michelotto’s Group 4 specifications in period. A safety fuel tank was fabricated and the 32-valve V8 engine with Sodemo fuel injection was prepared by WDB at Magny-Cours: fitted with a custom-made stainless-steel exhaust (meeting the noise regulations), it is understood to have been bench-tested at 400 bhp. It is mated to a ‘dog box’ with an interchangeable final drive ratio. The car sits on Gotti wheels (8x15 at the front and 12x15 at the rear) and the colours of its bodywork match the 308 GT4 that raced at Le Mans in 1974, with its number 18.

Well documented in a file of bills and photographs, the standard of the work is exemplary and a fine tribute to the only time a Ferrari 308 GT4 appeared at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car has demonstrated its performance in various historic events such as ‘500 Ferraris against cancer’ at Le Vigeant in 2025. Once it has obtained its Historic Technical Passport in the prototype category, it will be eligible to compete in the most popular historic events such as ‘Les Deux Tours d’Horloge’ at Le Castellet.
