Purchased in 2020 by the Scuderia Auto-Neuser from the Ferrari dealer Eberlein in Kassel, this Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato has undergone much recent work to buy replacement parts and restore it, as can be seen from the numerous invoices in its history file, amounting to nearly 20,000 €. The restoration work was carried out in Fritz Neuser’s own workshop, which is reflected in the car’s excellent condition. There are no signs of corrosion on the red bodywork, which is set off by Momo aftermarket wheels, while the glass and trim are in good condition. The leatherette interior, the subject of an older restoration, is in decent condition and all the car’s equipment, including the instruments and controls, is present. It has been enhanced by the addition of a radio, while a period accessory gear knob has been fitted. The engine bay has been well looked after and reveals Alfa’s famous four-cylinder twin-cam engine, fed by two Weber carburettors.

The GT 1300 Junior Zagato is one of the most exclusive versions of the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Unveiled at the 1969 Turin Motor Show, it had distinctive bodywork produced by Zagato to a design by Ercole Spada. True to Zagato’s tradition, the coupé had clean and flowing lines with a sporty appearance, and featured elegant headlamps under a plexiglass cover and lightweight bodywork with some parts made from aluminium or plexiglass. With 1108 cars built, it is a rare model which offers a combination of elegance, exclusivity and agile handling. Ideal characteristics for any lover of sporting machinery.
