Introduced in 1966, the Alfa Spider was designed by Pininfarina and proved such a success that its career continued until 1994, through four successive series and with several different engines based on the famous four-cylinder all-alloy twin cam. After the Duetto (‘Coda Longa’), in 1969 the version with a cut-off tail (‘Coda Tronca’) made its appearance, followed in 1983 by the third series with much bigger front and rear bumpers. In 1990, the styling again became smoother for the fourth and final series, which brought the Spider’s remarkable career to an elegant conclusion.
The model we are presenting is a 2-litre fuel-injected Spider from 1992, finished in a superb and very stylish shade of British Racing Green, which goes beautifully with the interior with its beige leather and Alcantara seats, which is in remarkable condition. The matching carpets are immaculate, just like the trim and the black dashboard. The car is fitted with a Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel and a VDO radio/CD player. It is also equipped with a body-colour hardtop and has covered less than 84,000km from new, some of them in the hands of Fritz Neuser’s wife, who used the Spider on sunny days.
In unusually well-preserved condition and in a very attractive combination of colours, this Alfa 2.0 Spider is a fitting tribute to this elegant model, whose performance is perfectly suited to drives in the sunshine with the hood down.
