A technological showcase for Porsche, the Carrera GT was first presented as a concept car at the Paris Motor Show in 2000, before being sold between 2003 and 2006. This exceptional supercar, intended to compete with the Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes SLR and Ford GT, was outstanding in every way, starting with its performance: it could accelerate from 0–100kph in 3.9sec and from 0–200kph in 9.9sec, and boasted a top speed of 330kph. In the series of supercars designed by Porsche, it was a successor to the 959, with a body that combined elegance, sportiness and aggression.

Its four headlamps under clear plastic covers, its side air intakes and streamlined shape all evoked models that had marked the company’s history in motorsport, like the 550 Spyder or the 917, while the double bubble roof extended over the engine cover and was directly inspired by racing. Lurking under the cover, a mid-rear mounted 5.7-litre 40-valve V10 engine produced 612bhp at 8000rpm. In general, the Carrera GT employed technical solutions that had been tried and tested in its endurance racing cars and were the essence of the Stuttgart firm’s unrivalled experience. Its aerodynamics were especially sophisticated: a rear wing deployed at speeds above 120kph, and the design of the floor, with a diffuser at the rear, generated downforce that increased with speed.

Particular attention was paid to keeping the weight down and the car came in at under 1380kg, thanks to the extensive use of composite materials such as carbon fibre and, for the extremely rigid chassis, a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFP) developed by Porsche. The clutch and brakes used ceramic materials, offering reduced weight as well as greater efficiency and resistance.

But despite being a racing car adapted for the road, the Carrera GT did not overlook its passengers’ comfort. In a cabin made from carbon fibre, leather and galvanised magnesium, they enjoyed air-conditioning, a sophisticated audio system and GPS. The roof had two removable carbon-fibre panels, offering the pleasure of open-air motoring in good weather. Power steering made the car easier to drive and it had a range of electronic assistance systems: ABS brakes, traction control and an anti-skid device. For drivers seeking added thrills or for track use, all these systems could naturally be switched off.

This Porsche Carrera GT was delivered new by the Porsche Centre at Padua, in Italy, at the start of 2006. It is notable for its unusual Basalt Black paintwork (C9Z), with a black interior, an understated, elegant and particularly sought-after combination. The 1240th of 1270 cars built, it was one of the very last models produced, making it all the more attractive to collectors. In 2013, with just over 19,000km, it left Italy to go to Germany. In 2019, its current owner, a great fan of this model who was particularly attentive to the choice of colour, bought the car with just under 21,000km.

The car still has its original service book and has been regularly and scrupulously serviced in official Porsche Centres, roof that it has been carefully maintained in accordance with the company’s standards.

In June 2025, the owner entrusted the car to the Porsche Centre at Vélizy for a major service, at a cost of nearly 60,000 €, at which time it had covered 21,459km. On this occasion, the tyres were replaced by the latest generation of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s and the clutch was changed, as were the camshafts, tappets and front shock absorbers. Since then, the car has covered only a hundred or so kilometres and is therefore in exceptional condition. The Carrera GT is now universally recognised as one of the most iconic roadgoing models in Porsche’s history. Its naturally-aspirated V10 with its unique sound, mated to a manual gearbox, ensures that it is the subject of increasing interest from discerning enthusiasts. In this rare colour, with low mileage and in impeccable mechanical condition, the example we are offering for sale is undoubtedly one of the best a collector could hope to acquire.
