After the Renault Duster Oroch presented in 2014, the Renault Alaskan Concept, unveiled in Paris in 2015, was the second pick-up offered by the manufacturer. With larger dimensions than the Oroch and based on the same platform as the Nissan Navara and the Mercedes X-Class, it prefigured the production version: launched in 2017, this was sold first in South America before being distributed in Europe. It is naturally equipped with four-wheel drive, an essential feature in its key target markets, where the transport routes were as often dirt tracks as paved roads.
Powered by a 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel developing 190bhp, mated to an automatic gearbox, this concept car had several differences compared to the production version, including an elegant hardtop covering the load bay, with a spoiler and brake light, a roof rack with two surfboards, and special wheels and lights, as well as various cosmetic touches which enhance its appearance. This unique model, in perfect original condition, is a concept car which cannot be registered or driven. It marks a milestone in Renault’s recent history.
