- Concept car for the production Fluence Z.E.
- Attractive interior design
- No reserve
Unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Fluence Z.E. Concept Car reflected Renault’s desire to take a position in the market for electric vehicles. It prefigured the production version that would be presented in 2011 at the Australian Motor Show and would be Renault’s first 100% electric production model. The concept car was based on the ICE-powered Fluence, a four-door saloon developed with Samsung, who also sold it under its brand. It was not the first time that Renault had used the Fluence name, as it had already been given to a prototype four-seat coupé presented at the 2004 Paris Motor Show.
The Fluence Z.E. (for ‘Zero Emissions’) Concept Car was announced with a 95bhp electric motor driving the front wheels and a lithium-ion battery mounted behind the rear seat. Renault claimed a range of 160km, and the prototype was fitted with a huge panoramic roof incorporating solar cells.
In addition to its see-through roof, the car had some unique features such as an interior design with smooth lines, superb bucket seats front and rear, turbine-style wheels and discreet touches of bright green on the bodywork. As a concept car built for display purposes, this Fluence Z.E. cannot be registered for use on the road.
