Collection Charles Gillet (1879 – 1972), puis par descendance
Like the folio from the Garshaspnama presented here (lot 187), this folio from a Khamsa of Nizami comes from a manuscript of which two further folios, attributed to Shiraz and dated to circa 1560–70, are held at the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington (inv. nos. S1986.200 and S1986.185). Both derive from the collection of Henri Vever (d. 1942), making it likely that Vever and Charles Gillet acquired these folios from the same dealer. Unfortunately, their provenance prior to this remains unknown.
