- Charming condition
- More than 30,000 € spent on mechanical work in recent years
- One of the finest GTs of its time
This 3500 GT was built on 12 January 1959 and delivered on 26 February that year through the Franco Cornacchia dealership in Milan to Luciano Canaves, from the Bergamo region. Its current owner bought it at the end of 2013 from a dealer near Verona. The dealer had taken it on consignment from the previous owner’s son and it had apparently been owned by the family for a long time. Its current owner used the car sparingly before dealing with its faults.
In 2024, extensive mechanical work was carried out on the car, at a total cost of almost 30,000 €. The engine, which is not the original unit but is of the correct type, was completely stripped down by the specialist Valenti Automobili in Belgium. New pistons, piston rings and bearings were then fitted. The three carburettors were also stripped down and serviced by the same workshop. Other jobs were carried out by KB Technics, also in Belgium, including work on the braking system, which was completely overhauled, as was the running gear. The gearbox was also completely overhauled by KB Technics. The work was completed during 2025 and the car has been driven very little since.
In its presentation, the car exhibits a rare degree of authenticity. The paintwork appears to date back several decades and goes perfectly with the superbly patinated interior, together giving this 3500 GT an irreplaceable charm. In the same ownership now for nearly 12 years, this is a moving example of a highly authentic car which is in perfect order mechanically and will be ideal for an enthusiast wishing to cover many miles behind its wheel.
