As the certificate issued by Porsche states, this 911 was delivered new on 10th August 1966 to Porsche of America in Teaneck, New York, in “Polo Rot” (code 6602) with “Kunstleder” (leatherette) interior. It was sold to its first owner, a certain Richard Noble, who registered it in 1967 and used it for a few years before selling it to Norman Evenden, the owner of a car garage in Horseheads, New York. His son Howard then exported it to Germany, where it was restored to its original colour, and the engine and gearbox were also restored. Once restored, this Porsche 911 was sold to its current owner in 2017, is displayed today in beautiful condition, with bright paintwork and original preserved interior fittings. It comes with its tool kit, a user manual for the car radio, and its original 6-cylinder engine.
This particularly interesting car, one of the very first 911 series, features the first short-wheelbase body, the wood-trimmed dashboard which has been varnished, the two triple-barrel Weber carburettors which replaced the original Solex in February 1966, and the horizontal “911” lettering on the rear hood instead of the sloping logo. It was only produced in this configuration for eight months before being replaced by the 911 S.
Rare and sought-after, and less expensive than earlier models, this 911 has the pure lines of the first design, and its limited weight gives it the agility and drive not felt in more recent versions. In enviable condition, this car offers a rare opportunity that won’t leave fans indifferent.
