The R nineT Urban G/S is part of the BMW "Heritage" family and is characterised by its extremely limited production run of just 40 units. This number corresponds to the 40th anniversary of the Paris-Dakar Rally and the model pays tribute to the first 'GS', the R80 GS. What's more, it's directly inspired by the colours of the bike on which Hubert Auriol, known as 'the African' won his second victory in the famous rally-raid in 1983 and who, at the time of the model's presentation, was publishing his book T.D.S.P.P ('Tout Droit Sur Piste Principale' = 'Straight ahead on the main track'). Each model has a numbered plate bearing the signature of Hubert Auriol, who succumbed to illness less than two years after the bike's launch.
Our collector, who was a BMW Motorcycle dealer at the time, was absolutely determined to buy one of the 40 examples and had to go to great lengths to fulfil his wish, ultimately being allocated the 40th and final one! He then converted the machine to his own taste, regardless of cost, fitting Öhlins shock absorbers, a titanium Akrapovic exhaust manifold, a titanium Unit Garage silencer, a black Wunderlich aluminium engine block, and Rizoma mirrors and indicators, all at a cost of around €8,000.
Sold with its original documentation and booklets, spare keys, and even the BMW dispatch note, this bike now has 2,443 km on the clock. In exceptional condition, very rare, and equipped with high standard features, this is a true collector's item, the appearance of which on the market is an opportunity that will not escape the notice of fans of the brand.
