This lovely T1 Combi is a rare European model, sold new in San Francisco as the luxury 21-window Type 25 Microbus, left-hand drive, with a loading door on the right and a short middle bench seat. Options include: 002, 043 – prepared for driving in the USA, France, Switzerland and Austria. 081, two separate front seats, 114, six lateral tilting windows (rare), and 425, equipment for road use in the USA. The bodywork colours were preserved during the restoration: L289 Blue/White for the upper section and L360 Lake Blue for the lower section. The interior was redone using the rare original material, including the fabric of the large sunroof. It is fitted with two Safari-style opening windscreens. The 1,500 cc engine with 51 hp was rebuilt using a new block and the gearbox is still fitted with its original reduction gears. This Bulli (as the Germans affectionately call it) was restored at great expense and €140,000 was spent on its acquisition. It can accommodate 8 passengers and their luggage, ready to set off on excursions or simply to return from the beach – it is a collector’s item that will be appreciated by the whole family!
