This car is particularly appealing thanks to its preparation and racing history. Sold new in December 1996 in Italy, it was prepared for GT racing and opened doors to numerous circuit racing events, unlike the Challenge versions which were restricted to their own series.

Among other things, it was fitted with front subframe reinforcements and special aerodynamic components; the interior was stripped out and it was equipped with a large OMP Racing roll cage specifically designed for GT series, far more sophisticated than those on the Challenge models (homologation certificate included in the file). Additionally, it was fitted with a specific gearbox and 18-inch centre-lock wheels.

The accompanying CSAI Passaporto Tecnico document states its racing participation as early as 1998 with G. Solieri at the wheel; then in 2000 with the famous driver Arturo Merzario, who teamed up with Paolo Maccari to take part in several races, including Monza (twelfth), Vallelunga (third), Misano (second overall and victory in GT3), and Varano (fifth), therefore reflecting the competitiveness of this car. It returned in February 2001 at the 24 Hours of Daytona, driven by Fabian Peroni, Tony Ring, Sergey Zlobin and Andrea Montermini, bearing the number 30 for the MasterCar team (led by Mario Crugnola). It finished 36th after completing 505 laps. Upon returning to Italy, it raced on several more occasions until 2004, when its ‘official’ racing career came to an end.

Having been owned by several Italian enthusiasts (listed in the Italian registration document included in the file), including the collector Giuseppe Prevosti, it was acquired in 2017 from Mr Scalzotto (based in Friuli) by its current owner, a great Ferrari enthusiast and son of one of the most renowned Ferrari enthusiasts in France. It subsequently took part in various historic racing events, with its last major outing taking place in 2024 at the Grand Prix de France Historique at the Paul Ricard circuit.

Totalling almost €37,000, several invoices from 2017 to 2024 document the overhaul and servicing works carried out (including the replacement of the timing belt), as well as the installation of OMP seats and the refurbishment of the fire suppression system prior to its last appearance at Le Castellet. Furthermore, the FIA-approved fuel tank was replaced in 2025. This Ferrari F355 comes with administrative documents as well as two boxes of parts to be collected in the south of France (Vaucluse), containing various components including the centre console, an air conditioning compressor, a gearbox casing of unknown condition, a set of gearbox parts and 10 centre-lock wheels, as well as moulds required to remanufacture specific front and rear fibreglass bumpers.

Once driven by one of Italy’s finest drivers, this iconic car now bears the scars of an illustrious racing career. It also has the advantage of retaining the same livery it had when racing in the 24 Hours of Daytona (sponsored notably by Brums).

Close enough to the production model to make it suitable for racing on a reasonable budget and faithful to its original condition in its 2001 Daytona 24 Hours livery, it is eligible in particular for Peter Auto’s Endurance Racing Legend series (including Le Mans Classic), where it will stand out as a competitive car that is as beautiful as it is rare and high-performing.
