Renault built a series of mini-single-seaters at the start of the 1970s to promote the brand and its success in motorsport. As Christophe Mirot from the restoration team at the collection reminds us, these little cars were used in dealerships during open days: while their parents took an interest in the new models, the children imagined themselves as budding racing drivers, on board these single-seaters powered by an engine from Bernard, at the time a Renault subsidiary.

The collection has four examples of these cars, whose styling brings to mind the Formula 3 Alpine A360 single-seater from 1971, which later evolved into the A366 in Formula Renault and gave many drivers – such as Patrick Depailler, René Arnoux, Patrick Tambay, Dany Snobeck or René Metge – their first experience of racing.

Meticulously built and in running order, the three examples offered for sale are finished in colours which call to mind the three Williams-Renaults that won the Formula 1 World Championship. This example replicates the livery of Nigel Mansell’s car from his winning season in 1992.
