Broderie de soie rouge sur toile de coton crème, le bandeau principal décoré d’oiseaux affrontés de part et d’autre d’une coupe et de petits personnages, deux frises de motifs floraux stylisés dans les bords supérieur et inférieur, jointe en son milieu, petits accidents.

Originally preserved within Judeo-Moroccan communities, Zemmour embroidery is distinguished by a palette dominated by red and black, and by an ornamental repertoire combining geometric motifs (crosses, lozenges, chalices) with a rich vegetal vocabulary and a varied bestiary: partridges, peacocks, giraffes, and dragons share the compositions, the latter motif having been introduced as early as the fifteenth century through Portuguese trading posts, and since then becoming a distinctive emblem of the city.
