- From a major collection in Bordeaux
- Decent condition, superb recommissioning project
- Particularly modern car for its time
- No reserve
The Lambda has a special place in Lancia’s history, as it was both innovative and practical, for which it was rewarded with an exceptionally long career, from 1923–1931, as well as some success in competition, including third place on the Mille Miglia in 1928. Designed by Vincenzo Lancia, it had a unitary body, front brakes and independent front suspension with a sliding-pillar design that the company used for a long time. The V4 engine was particularly compact and the drive shaft to the rear wheels was located in a tunnel inside the car, allowing the body to be lower.
The Lambda we are presenting joined the collection in the 1970s and had been in the Bordeaux area since at least 1955, as the date of its previous registration certificate shows. The date of its first registration is unknown, but can be placed around 1926 when comparing the car with other Lambdas. It was later restored and its dark blue torpedo bodywork is decently preserved today. The interior has also been restored, but the black leatherette upholstery is in only average condition and is not entirely to the original specification. The attractive dashboard, with four dials around a control panel, appears to be complete.
In used condition and in need of new tyres, the car is not in running order; it is sold ‘as is’ and will require a thorough overhaul before being driven again. Complete and in sound condition, this Lancia is an interesting example of one of the most notable and sought-after models in the history of the Turin-based manufacturer. Once restored, it is sure to provide pleasant outings with family or friends, or even more ambitious trips or the opportunity to take part in the greatest international rallies.
Please note that the technical inspection is unfavorable.
