This car was probably bought new as part of this major collection from Bordeaux and spent the first part of its life in the Sologne. Used for hunting, the rear bench seat was removed to leave more room for the hunters. The specific use made of it accounts for its modest mileage of 76,267km at the time this catalogue went to press. The car then came to the Bordeaux region to be used in one of the family’s châteaux.

It is a 300 G with the 3.0-litre in-line petrol six, developing nearly 180bhp, and automatic transmission. It is in heavily used condition, and although the body remains fairly sound, the ripped hood and the interior with a torn seat, console trim which is coming away and missing radio will need to be completely restored. Mechanically recommissioned and serviced by Mercedes in 2022, it could serve as an excellent basis to create a customized car or for a restoration remaining faithful to the original specification of this classic Mercedes, which is greatly appreciated by collectors, especially in this 300 G petrol version.
