It’s rare to come across 190 SL examples that have gone through such a thorough restoration. This is what convinced its current owner to acquire this car in 2022 in Portugal, where it was already registered. An inspection of the elegant convertible indicates a complete high-quality restoration: the bodywork was fully stripped down and repainted in a lovely beige colour, as well as the running gear which was disassembled and restored. A health check of the underflooring is impressive and shows that the vehicle was barely used since then.

The car’s gorgeous look is enhanced by a beautifully designed double-stitched dark red soft top, echoes nicely with the upholstery (also in red) which was fully and carefully redone. An inspection of the interior reveals a clever third seat perpendicular to the road and the presence of a functional Becker Europa TG radio, with the speaker wrapped in leather. The electrical wiring has been redone and the opening of the soft top evidence that the mechanical part was fully restored, alongside an almost-new engine bay.

Our test drive was entirely satisfactory. The car starts instantly; it is well-tuned and is reliable at the wheel. All equipment is in working order. Ready to hit the road, this Mercedes will undoubtedly attract the attention of discerning collectors.
