Richard Hamilton, figure du Pop Art britannique, a choisi pour ce travail une scène d’un film célèbre et populaire aux Etats-Unis en 1954, “White Christmas”, avec une musique de Irving Berlin.

Pourtant, la référence de Hamilton n'est pas une reproduction exacte du succès cinématographique, mais une adaptation dans laquelle il reproduit le sujet sous forme de sérigraphie dans les couleurs inversées d'un négatif couleur.

Richard Hamilton chose a famous film scene as the subject of this work. 'White Christmas', with music by Irving Berlin, was the most popular feature film in America in 1954. And yet Hamilton's reference is not an exact repetition of the cinema hit but an adaptation of it, in which he reproduces the subject as a screenprint in the inverted colors of a color negative.
