Symbole du pouvoir spirituel en référence à la sainte Couronne d'épines, tel qu'il fut conçu par Viollet-le-Duc pour le reliquaire de Notre Dame de Paris et qu'on voit sur un dessin du musée d'Orsay (1) (Fig. a), la couronne constitue également un objet à connotation héraldique, symbole du pouvoir temporel, comme dans le cas de notre insigne.

Usually a symbol for religious power with reference to the Holy Thorns' Crown, as it is the case for the reliquary conceived by Viollet-le-Duc for the Notre Dame in Paris and observed on a drawing kept at the Musée d'Orsay (1) (Fig. a), the crown equally constitutes a symbol with an heraldic connotation, representing the temporal power, as it is the case for the exemplary that we present.
