Pallamar is a well-known name among connoisseurs of old paintings. The Viennese gallery was founded in the nineteen sixties and was a major reference point during the second half of the 20th century. Specialising in the Northern Schools, the gallery regularly offered masterpieces by major artists active in these regions in the 16th and 17th centuries during its annual exhibition. Rudolf and Friederike Pallamar, the ambitious founders, were proud to support the heritage left by these historic artists.
The baton will pass to Artcurial this coming 13th November with an auction bearing witness to this great adventure: several oil paintings will be on offer, from Jan van Kessel to Balthasar van der Ast and David Vinckboons, together with a small selection of sculptures in polychromatic wood, including a fine and rare selection of Mechelen dolls from the 16th century.
