From Friday 4th to Thursday 10th December 2020, Artcurial’s Fashion & Luxury Accessories department will present Madame Tugendhat’s Collection in an Online Only auction. The greatest luxury Houses will be featured in this entirely digital sale. Bags, small leather goods, costume jewelries and watches will be sold for the benefit of the association “Les Restos du Coeur”. The Chanel spirit will be widely represented with the iconic Timeless and Boy bags and emblematic costume jewelries.
A large selection of pieces from the great Hermès House will be on sale, including the famous Birkin and Kelly models. You will also find an exceptional Kelly Sellier 32 in Celadon Green Natura alligator, a rare bag, much appreciated by collectors. Louis Vuitton's leather goods designer will have a special place in this digital sale with numerous bags, accessories and wallets from collaborations and limited editions. By taking part in the auction, buyers and collectors will not only be able to acquire must-haves for their wardrobe, but they will also carry out a solidarity action for the benefit of “Les Restos du Coeur”, an association founded 35 years ago by Coluche which provides voluntary assistance to the needy in France.
Artcurial: How did you manage to build up this collection?
Mrs Claire Tugendhat: I have always been deeply passionate about fashion, which has led me to make it my profession. In 1979 I opened my first depot-sale and several will follow in the following years. I managed to build up this collection during my forty-two years of professional practice. We have pieces that come from very beautiful houses such as Hermès, Chanel and Louis-Vuitton.
Artcurial: What has been your career with the association “Les Restaurants du Coeur - Les Relais du Coeur?”
Mrs Claire Tugendhat: In the 1990s, I concretised my desire to share and help others by becoming a volunteer with the association "Les Restos du Coeur". I started by distributing meals in the evening on the site of the Gare Saint-Lazare and then I took over the management of the Invalides site.
Artcurial: What motivated this sale?
Mrs Claire Tugendhat: Today I am retired, but my desire to help others remains as strong as ever... It seemed to me that it was really the right time to make this sale to benefit the Restos du Coeur and to share in my own way with the most needy people.
