Historical Collections & Timepieces: Success for Prestigious Provenances

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the Historical Collections: Memories of Great Figures and Historic Timepieces from the Principality of Monaco auctions, organized by Artcurial, achieved over €1.7M, under the hammer of Stéphane Aubert and Maxence Miglioretti. The historical memorabilia, with remarkable provenances, drew strong interest, with 31 preemptions from the French National Archives and the Historical Service of the Armed Forces.

Among the highlights of the first session, a rare 1830-bound copy of the “Description de l’Égypte” achieved €140,173.

The second chapter, dedicated to Charles de Gaulle and Paul Reynaud, drew strong collector interest and notable results: the official portrait of President Charles de Gaulle fetched €49,856, while a letter dated January 30, 1940, from General de Gaulle to Paul Reynaud sold for €26,240.
Paul Reynaud’s personal copy of the French Fifth Republic Constitution, annotated in his own hand, also reached €47,232.

Our Watches Department also presented an exceptional collection of timepieces from Pierre Rey, a close advisor to the Prince Rainier III and a key figure of post-war Monaco, totaling €852,800. Notably, the Patek Philippe “World Time – Pink on Pink” Ref. 1415 and “Perpetual Calendar – Big Arabic” Ref. 1526 achieved €328,000 and €524,800 respectively.
