On November 18th, Artcurial will auction the first part of the collection assembled by British collector Christian Levett: Treasures of the Mediterranean. This auction will inaugurate a series of several sales dedicated to archaeological works from the Mougins Museum of Classic Art (MACM), open to the public from 2011 to 2023.

A collector and patron of the arts, Christian Levett has spent nearly two decades assembling an exceptional collection of antiques. His adventure began in the 1990s, when he discovered the world of auctions, before developing a passion for antiquities at the turn of the 2000s. Over the years, he has built up a remarkable collection of sculptures, ceramics, weapons and jewellery.

In 2011, he inaugurated the Mongins Museum of Classic Art (MACM) in the heart of the medieval village with the ambition of revealing the timeless influence of Antiquity. The museum stood out for its innovative approach: putting masterpieces from the ancient world into perspective with those of modern and contemporary art, from Picasso to Warhol, Matisse, Chagall and Damien Hirst.

Although closed in 2023, the spirit of the MACM lives on through the FAMM (Femmes Artistes du Musée de Mougins), inaugurated in June 2024 and dedicated exclusively to modern and contemporary women artists.
