But this auction also overflowed with other treasures that seduced one of our Art Deco specialists, Sabrina Dolla. She wanted to share with us a few of her crushes from the last auction.

Daum Nancy
Vase “Arbres sous la pluie”, Circa 1900
Estimate: 20 000 - 25 000 €
Sold: 33 800 €
Lot 5
This vase is an example of an extraordinary technique requiring great skill: the “décor intercalaire à grand feu”, in which the decorative motifs are “imprisoned” between two layers of glass. The resulting effect is surprisingly contemporary, particularly since Daum’s patent was registered in 1899!

René Lalique (1860-1945)
“Masque avec couples de tritons”, Circa 1893
Estimate: 10 000 - 15 000 €
Sold: 11 700 €
Lots 8 to 10
These lost-wax gilt bronze plaques by René Lalique are one-of-a-kind pieces. Quite remarkable, they were used as moulds for creating objets d’art and jewellery. Their dreamlike and poetic motifs demonstrate René Lalique’s extraordinary talent as a sculptor.

Pierre Chareau (1883-1950)
Hanging shelf Model PD 698, Circa 1924
Estimate: 30 000 - 40 000 €
Sod: 36 400 €
Lot 43
This shelf by Pierre Chareau is interesting for many reasons: it exemplifies the excellent quality of traditional ironworking; its minimalist aesthetic is truly modern; and it is absolutely functional. Indeed, this completely modular shelf, which can be installed very quickly, comes in a kit!
