Andy Warhol (1928-1987)
Apple (Ads), 1985
Sérigraphie en couleurs
Signée et numérotée "15/190"
Estimation : 40 000-60 000 €
“I especially like the ‘Apple’ screen-print by Andy Warhol (Lot 68). Here, once again, Warhol blurs the distinction between fine art and advertising. He was fascinated by consumer society and advertising from the very beginning and throughout his career he addressed the omnipresence of brands and logos in American households.
This screen-print, from the legendary ‘Ads’ album is considered one of his most iconic works, alongside his Campbell’s Soup or Marilyn.

Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010)
Spiral woman, 2003
Eau-forte et pointe-sèche
Signée, datée et numérotée "20/35"
Estimation : 6 000-8 000 €
Louise Bourgeois explored the many different forms of producing art.
She was particularly attached to sculpture and so it would be impossible not to select this marvel called ‘Spiral Woman’ (Lot 81).
A similar piece was shown at the MOMA as part of the remarkable ‘Louise Bourgeois: An Unfolding Portrait’ exhibition. It has an impressive presence.
A spiral appeared in numerous works of art by this artist and was a reference to both the idea of freedom and to continuity.
We are particularly fond of Louise Bourgeois at Artcurial, having been a partner in the ‘Twosome’ exhibition in Tel Aviv at the start of the year.

Joan Miró (1893-1983)
Sans titre (les orfèvres), 1977
Eau-forte rehaussée au pastel et au crayon cire
Signée - Epreuve unique
Estimation : 20 000-30 000 €
This piece by Joan Miró (Lot 141) is half-way between painting and engraving. It is a mono print finished with pastel by the Spanish artist. A print from this series is kept at the MOMA in New York.
According to Miró ‘an engraving should have all the beauty and the dignity of a good painting’: this work of art is the proof of this.
The artist’s engravings are marked by his constant experimentation with new techniques. Miró’s battle against established techniques makes him one of the most important engravers of the 20th century”.
