1955 Chevrolet 3100 Cameo (2nd Series)

The year 1955 marked a new beginning for Chevrolet (both technically and aesthetically) and commercial vehicles were no exception. In fact, at the top of the pick-up range, the Cameo Series 3100 broke new ground with a modern design featuring a panoramic windscreen, a loading bed with fibreglass panels and a brand-new 265 ci (4.3-litre) small-block V8 engine. Powerful and elegant, it was available in the unique ‘Bombay Ivory’ colour scheme with a red interior, matching the inner panels of the loading bed. Built at the Los Angeles factory, this particular example was extensively restored in the USA (starting from the chassis) and the work was documented in a photo album. The bodywork was separated from the chassis to enable the latter to be restored. The interior was stripped, treated and repainted in its original colour, just like the rear compartment. The engine was rebuilt and refitted, along with the automatic gearbox, into a compartment in immaculate condition. The upholstery and electrical system were given the same care and chrome parts were restored. Having been driven sparingly after its restoration, this flamboyant and luxurious pick-up was imported into Europe in 2018 when it was registered in Nevada. The attractiveness of this model and the quality of its restoration will appeal to all gentleman farmers!
