Cette Maserati Indy est une rare et intéressante version 4.9L dont la production fut limitée à 300 exemplaires. Vendue neuve en France par l’importateur parisien Thépenier, elle fut délivrée le 7 octobre 1975 à M. Saglia qui avait fait reprendre son Indy 4.7 pour s’offrir cet exemplaire associant le rouge pour la carrosserie à une sellerie en cuir noir, et un autoradio Blaupunkt optionnel. La voiture semble avoir passé sa vie en région parisienne, étant même un temps la propriété d’un chanteur au début des années 90. Son actuel propriétaire, collectionneur exigeant, lui a fait bénéficier d’une importante restauration réalisée entre 2016 et 2024 par Racelab1, dont le montant total dépasse 160 000€. La carrosserie a été intégralement restaurée et repeinte, les soubassements ont été traités, y compris les corps creux. Le moteur ainsi que la transmission ont été remis en état, tout comme les trains roulants. Le système de refroidissement a été amélioré au même titre que la climatisation et le système de freinage a été remis à neuf. Seule la sellerie en cuir noir, patinée, a volontairement été préservée. La voiture a parcouru 2 500 km depuis cette restauration extensive pour en parfaire le fonctionnement. Un rapport d’expertise de novembre 2024 qui fixe sa valeur à 180 000€ soulignait « un travail remarquable » et un « fonctionnement irréprochable ». Version la plus puissante et la plus aboutie des Indy, cette 4.9 française d’origine et restaurée à grand frais fera le bonheur de son futur propriétaire.

This Maserati Indy is a rare and interesting 4.9L version, of which only 300 examples were produced. Sold new in France by the Parisian importer Thépenier, it was delivered on the 7th October 1975 to Mr Saglia, who had exchanged his Indy 4.7 to buy this example, which combines a red bodywork with black leather upholstery and an optional Blaupunkt car radio. The car seems to have spent its life in the Paris region, even belonging to a singer in the early 1990s. As a meticulous collector, its current owner had it extensively restored between 2016 and 2024 by Racelab1, at a total cost of over €160,000. The bodywork was fully restored and repainted, as well as the underbody which was treated, including the hollow sections. The engine and transmission were overhauled, as well as the running gear. The cooling system was enhanced, as was the air conditioning and the braking system which have been completely redone. Only the patinated black leather upholstery has been intentionally preserved. The car has travelled 2,500 km since this extensive restoration in order to optimize its performance. An inspection report from November 2024 which sets its value at €180,000 emphasised its ‘remarkable workmanship’ and ‘flawless performance’. As the most powerful and most accomplished version of the Indy, this original French 4.9 example (restored at great expense!) will undoubtedly delight its future owner.
