Au Salon de Genève de mars 2004, la Modus Concept annonçait la version de série, lancée au mois de septembre de la même année. Par rapport aux Twingo et Clio de la gamme Renault, la Modus Concept innovait par sa façon de traiter l'espace intérieur. Plus haute que ses sœurs, elle se présentait comme un "minispace" à cinq portes avec un habitacle très spacieux par rapport à son encombrement extérieur. La banquette arrière, qui pouvait glisser vers l'arrière pour apporter plus d'aise aux occupants, comportait trois places dont une centrale dotée d'un dossier repliable, le coussin des sièges avant se soulevait sur un rangement et un toit transparent augmentait encore la sensation d'espace. Ce concept car avait évidemment droit à un équipement et une présentation sophistiqués, avec des feux arrière "Crystal", une double sortie d'échappement, des jantes spéciales et un tableau de bord au dessin doux et fluide. Sous le capot était annoncé un 4-cylindres 1.6 essence dont les 110 ch promettait d'honorables performances.

Cette Modus spéciale, en bel état de conservation depuis son entrée dans la collection n’est pas immatriculable pour la route. Elle constitue l'occasion exceptionnelle de s'offrir un concept car unique bénéficiant d'une présentation spécifique très réussie qui le différencie de toutes les voitures commercialisées.

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2004, the Modus Concept paved the way for the production version, which would be launched in September that year. Compared with Renault’s Twingo and Clio, the Modus boasted an innovative interior design. Taller than these two models, it was presented as a mini-MPV with five doors and a very roomy interior in relation to its external dimensions. The rear bench, which could slide backwards to free up more space for the passengers, had three seats, the middle one featuring a folding backrest, while the base of the front seats lifted up to reveal a storage compartment, and a see-through roof further increased the impression of space. This concept car was naturally entitled to a sophisticated look and had equipment to match, with ‘Crystal’ rear lights, dual exhaust tailpipes, special wheels and a dashboard with a smooth, fluid design. Under the bonnet, the proposed 4-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engine, developing 110bhp, promised a decent turn of speed.

This special Modus, which has remained in good condition since it entered the collection, cannot be registered for use on the road. It represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a unique concept car with a very effective and exclusive finish which sets it apart from all the production models.
