Présentée au Salon de Francfort 2007, six mois après la Clio Grand Tour Concept, la Kangoo Compact Concept exploite le potentiel du modèle dans le domaine des loisirs. Elle s'appuie sur l'univers du roller, par le biais d'un partenariat avec Rollerblade qui véhicule aussi les valeurs de mobilité, partage et joie de vivre. Sur un châssis raccourci et réhaussé, cette Kangoo adopte des teintes vives, "Orange Fireball" et aluminium brossé, et des jantes de 19 pouces. Le pare-brise se poursuit en un toit transparent assurant une excellente luminosité à l'habitacle traité de façon très "design". Les sièges Bleu Skate et gris mêlent textile et cuir et le tableau de bord présente des formes douces et un toucher antidérapant que ne vient troubler aucun angle vif. La banquette arrière est en contresens et sur la porte de coffre sont fixées deux paires de rollers, un système de girafon facilitant le transport d'équipements de loisir. Propulsée par un 4-cylindres 1.5 dCi diesel de 105 ch, cette Kangoo Compact Concept débouchera en 2009 sur la Kangoo Be Bop, dont le succès restera toutefois mitigé.

S'agissant d'un concept car et fabriquée comme telle, cette voiture n'est ni immatriculable ni utilisable, mais elle symbolise les recherches esthétiques effectuées par Renault dans le domaine des loisirs, très dynamique au début des années 2000.

Presented at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, six months after the Clio Grand Tour, the Kangoo Compact Concept Car exploited the potential of the model in the area of leisure. It drew on the world of rollerblading, through a partnership with the Rollerblade brand, which had the same values of mobility, shared experiences and the joy of life. On a raised and shortened chassis, the Kangoo adopted a bold colour scheme, with ‘Orange Fireball’ and brushed aluminium bodywork, and had 19in wheels. The windscreen continued into a transparent roof, making for a bright interior, which had a very design-led treatment. The Skate Blue and grey seats combined fabric and leather trim, while the dashboard was smoothly shaped without any sharp edges and had a non-slip finish. The rear bench faced backwards and two pairs of roller blades were attached to the tailgate, which had a hinged flap at the top to make it easier to carry leisure equipment. Powered by a 4-cylinder 1.5dCi diesel engine producing 105bhp, the Kangoo Compact Concept Car led in 2009 to the Kangoo Be Bop, but this met with limited success.

Conceived and built as a concept car, this car can be neither registered nor driven, but it symbolises Renault’s research into design in the leisure market, which was extremely dynamic at the start of the 2000s.
