2005 Saleen S7 R Sans titre de circulation Véhicule de compétition Châssis n° 0060 - Rare GT1 compétitive - Trois victoires en course en FIA GT - Restauration récente - Le futur des courses historiques - Ex Team Zakspeed Steve Saleen, préparateur basé aux États-Unis, a sauté le pas en 2000 en présentant une voiture entièrement de son crû, la Saleen S7. L'année suivante, il proposait une version spécifique pour la piste en catégorie GT1, la S7 R. La version route ayant été conçue pour une telle évolution, le passage de l'une à l'autre s'est fait naturellement et explique le succès remporté en course par ce modèle équipé d'un V8 Ford 7 litres modifié. Ainsi, une Saleen S7 R remportait en 2001 sa catégorie aux 12 Heures de Sebring, tout en signant la sixième place au classement général. De 2001 à 2010, la Saleen S7 R a fait le bonheur de nombreuses écuries privées importantes, en maintenant sa compétitivité au cours des saisons qui se sont succédées. Une des évolutions majeures eu lieu en 2005, quand Steve Saleen demandait à Oreca de revoir le châssis pour améliorer les performances de la voiture. Les exemplaires qui ont suivies sont considérés comme "deuxième série", et c'est l'un d'eux que nous proposons ici. Portant le numéro de châssis 060, cette voiture a été fabriquée en 2005 et achetée à l'origine par l'équipe allemande Zakspeed, écurie expérimentée et impliquée dans la course automobile depuis de longues années. Confiée à l'Allemand Sascha Bert et au Tchèque Jaroslav Janiš pour le championnat d'endurance GT, la voiture se révélait très rapide et remportait en 2006 la deuxième place lors de la course inaugurale de Silverstone, tout en décrochant la victoire à Brno et au Hungaroring. Ces résultats permettaient à Jaroslav Janiš d'obtenir la troisième place au championnat pilotes. Des difficultés financières contraignaient Zakspeed à céder en 2007 la voiture à l'écurie belge PK-Carsport, qui participait à son tour au championnat FIA GT 2008. Les résultats modestes étaient couronnés par une victoire en fin de saison à San Luis, en Argentine et, en 2009, la Saleen S7 R était vendue à une troisième écurie, Full Speed Racing, basée en Autriche. La S7 R était encore compétitive, comme le prouvait la victoire d'une autre équipe à Silverstone, mais le meilleur résultat de Full Speed Racing sera une sixième place dans championnat GT en Italie avec Luke Hines et Stéphane Lémeret. En 2011, cette voiture passait entre les mains de son actuel propriétaire, un passionné de sport automobile participant depuis longtemps à des séries amateur. La voiture faisait alors l'objet d'une restauration méticuleuse (moteur refait par un spécialiste des moteurs de course d'endurance RS Tuning, pièces fournies par Franz Konrad, un des meilleurs spécialistes de la S7 R...). Après avoir utilisé la voiture en course, le propriétaire, conscient de l'importance historique de sa voiture au sein du team Zakspeed, a décidé de lui rendre la livrée qu'elle portait à cette époque. Livrée avec un lot de pièces et de jantes, cette voiture constitue une intéressante occasion d'acquérir une authentique GT1 ayant signé trois victoires en course, d'un modèle sortant de l'ordinaire. Elle offre également l'avantage d'un entretien moins coûteux que certaines de ses rivales tout en demeurant extrêmement compétitive. The following year he offered a competition version eligible in GT1, the S7 R. As the road-going version had been designed with this evolution in mind, the progression from one to the other was a natural one. It helps to explain the model's competitiveness, fitted with a modified 7-litre Ford V8 engine. Racing successes included finishing sixth overall and a class win in 2001 in the Sebring 12 Hours. Between 2001 and 2010, the Saleen S7 R was raced successfully by various important private teams, and remained highly competitive during successive seasons. Development continued during this period and one major evolution took place in 2005 when Saleen commissioned Oreca to remodel the chassis to improve performance. Cars built from that time became known as " second series ", and the Saleen on offer is one of these. This car, chassis 060, was built in 2005 and was bought new by Zakspeed, an experienced German team with a long history in motor racing. Driven by the German Sascha Bert and the Czech Jaroslav Janiš in the GT Endurance Chamionship, the car proved to be very quick. It finished second in its inaugural race at Silverstone in 2006, and won at both Brno and Hungaroring. These results earned Jaroslav Janiš third place in the Drivers Championship. In 2007, financial constraints led Zakspeed to sell the car to the Belgian team PK-Carsport, who entered it for the 2008 FIA GT Championship. The highlight of their modest results was a late-season victory at San Luis in Argentina. In 2009 the car changed hands again, selling to the third team-owner from Austria, Full Speed Racing. The S7 R was still a competitive model at that time, as demonstrated by a win by a different team at Silverstone. The best result achieved by Full Speed Racing in this car was 6th place in the Italian round of the GT Championship, driven by Luke Hines and Stéphane Lémeret. Full details of the car's racing history are available below. In 2011, this S7 R passed into the hands of the current owner, a motor racing enthusiast and regular participant in amateur race series. He undertook a thorough restoration of the car, which included an engine rebuild by RS Tuning, specialists in endurance racing engines, with parts supplied by Franz Konrad, one of the top S7 R specialists. Having competed in the car, the owner, aware of the significance of its history with Zakspeed, decided to return it to the livery it had at that period. To be sold with a variety of spares and wheels, this Saleen presents an interesting opportunity to acquire a genuine and unusual GT1 car that has won three races. It also has the advantage of being less costly to maintain than some of its rivals, while remaining extremely competitive.
