Description

1977 Aston Martin V8

1977 Aston Martin V8

This AM V8 was built at the end of 1977 and quickly exported to the United States to be sold there. According to a copy of the Aston Martin register, it was then finished in Kentucky Blue with a light blue interior (DV. 6303) featuring blue piping (DV. 6330) and Scandinavian blue carpet. A copy of the Car Record Card lists the equipment with reference numbers AT 35, ACA 417, 377 SKR and 437.

According to our information, the first owner lived in Los Angeles and purchased it on the 23rd of February 1979; he subsequently sold it to the second owner in June 1980, who lived in Beverly Hills. We then lost track of its whereabouts before rediscovering it in one of the world’s largest collections in the Middle East, from where it was offered for auction in the United States in July 2022; it was then that the current owner acquired it. As a discerning collector of classic cars, he then embarked on a complete restoration of the car; it included (among other things) the replacement of the entire ignition system, the overhaul of the braking system with a new master cylinder and brake booster, the restoration of the carburettors, the restoration of the entire cooling system, the refurbishment of the power steering and rack, replacement of the oil system, an oil change and replacement of the automatic gearbox strainer, as well as the replacement of 4 shock absorbers and 4 tyres. In total, approximately €16,000 was spent on parts and 200 hours of work were carried out in the car owner’s garage.

The car which seems to be in its original color combination, is now in superb condition, both aesthetically and mechanically. As this AM V8 is a 1978 model, it has the added appeal because it has a revised “stage 1” engine with revised camshafts and an exhaust system, which complies with the emissions standards that had reduced its performance in 1976 and makes it a particularly enjoyable car to drive.
