- Restauration ancienne de qualité
- 3ème place optionnelle

1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL with hardtop
According to its datenkarte, this 190 SL left the factory on the 18th of July 1961, in ‘Gris Blanc’ (ref. 158 G) with a parchment leather interior and a black top. It was fitted with the optional third seat, positioned perpendicular to the road. Registered on the 20th of July of the same year, it was owned by two German collectors between 1998 and 2010, when it was then acquired by Guido Hommel. He was captivated by the quality of its bodywork and its superb interior, featuring patinated green leather with matching carpets. A closer look at the car reveals a high-quality restoration carried out some time ago, with a paint finish in the traditional grey shade. Chrome parts are in perfect condition and a pair of long-range headlights enhance the front end. The restored soft top is also in excellent condition and an optional hard top in the same colour as the bodywork is included; the car’s design is further enhanced by Michelin ZX tyres with white sidewalls. The engine was rebuilt and the original 121 921 engine block was replaced by a 121 924 with identical displacement, fitted with a cylinder head featuring twin-barrel Solex carburettors (as it should be on a 190 SL). Inside, in addition to the remarkable upholstery, we note the presence of a Becker Mexico car radio with a central speaker positioned above a rear-view mirror. In good condition both aesthetically and mechanically, this elegant roadster was appraised in 2024 and the fact it was selected by its owner’s discerning eye will certainly attract the interest of all enthusiasts.
