- Achetée neuve par Guido Hommel
- 149 816 km d’origine

1991 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL with hardtop
When it went on sale in 1989, the top model in Mercedes’ R129 range was the 500 SL, which boasted a powerful 326bhp V8 and a wealth of equipment focused on the driving experience, but also – and above all – on safety.
This example was bought new by Guido Hommel, who registered it on 8 November 1991. He chose an elegant shade of ‘blue black metallic’ (code 199) for the upper body panels, with a lighter grey for the lower panels, echoing the colour of the leather interior. Its ‘Datenkarte’ confirms that the engine is the original unit and sets out the long list of options fitted: electric heated front seats, illuminated vanity mirror, wind deflector, Becker Mexico 2000 radio with aerial, air-conditioning, heat-absorbing glass all round, headlamp washers and remote central locking ...
This lovely convertible was later sold to a friend, but Hommel bought it back from him in 2004 to keep it in his collection. With the odometer reading 149,816km when we inspected it, the 500 SL still has its hardtop, warning triangle, original tool kit and jack. In good used condition, it was the subject of a valuation report in 2024 and is sure to delight fans of Mercedes-Benz’ top-of-the-range models.
