When it introduced the CX 2400 GTi in 1977, Citroën regained a leading position in the executive car class. Its design and comfort, the effectiveness of its suspension and now its performance made it a superb machine, and the first series of cars with chrome bumpers are extremely sought after today.
This example is one such model; sold new on 25 January 1980 by the Garage Muller in Mulhouse, it still features some of the details that would disappear a few months later, such as the famous spherical ashtray. Its first owner chose the colour ‘Gris Vulcain’ (AC 080), with an interior in light brown cloth. A careful man, he had the car serviced regularly by the garage which sold it to him, as can be seen from its service book. This document, together with the records for its safety inspections, allow us to establish that the car has indeed covered 74,900km from new. The first owner’s wife gave the car to its current owner in 2014, knowing that he would take meticulous care of it. At the time, the CX had 72,938km on the clock, and since then it has undergone extensive work: it was repainted in 2015, the headlining was replaced and a full mechanical overhaul, including the brakes and hydraulic system, was carried out. This is corroborated by a file of bills, and since 2018 routine maintenance and any work required has been undertaken by Daunat Classique. Ready to be driven, this GTi with its clear history is in impressive condition today, with its gleaming bodywork and barely patinated interior. It combines the charm of the early versions with modern-day performance: the best of both worlds!
