1942 Willys MB Jeep with trailer
This car has a special connection to the story of Thierry Dehaeck’s life. A story that began when he was nine years old, when his parents gave him a military Jeep with pedals, complete with a trailer. Delighted with the car, he became very fond of it and played with it a great deal until, as the years went by, he stopped using it. He nonetheless decided to keep it and it remained stored on the premises of the family firm. Sadly, on 4 May 1984, the building was caught in a fire, from which nothing escaped, not even the Jeep. The family did not lose heart and set about constructing a new building, which was inaugurated on 1 September that year, but it could not bring back the much-loved Jeep.
Many years later, he mentioned this sorry tale to his second wife-to-be, who was touched by the story and resolved to give him a Jeep with a trailer as a wedding present. It was therefore this car that Thierry Dehaeck was surprised to receive the day they got married, in 2009.
It is a Willys MB (‘Military’, type B) built on 24 April 1942 and completely restored in 2008 by its then owner and his son, enthusiasts from Lochristi in Belgium. Everything was completely stripped down and rebuilt, as can be seen from a file of photographs, and today the car is perfectly presented, in the colours of the US Army and with its dashboard plates and its accessories such as the spade, pickaxe and jerrycan lashed to the body. In superb condition and a genuine Willys, the most sought-after version, this Jeep (which has its FIVA ID card) will not fail to attract the attention of enthusiasts.
