Cette voiture a commencé sa vie en Italie, elle se trouvait dans les années 1980 dans la région d’Alessandria, et, en 1992, elle appartenait à M. G. Lotteri, de Cremone, sous l'immatriculation CR*484669. C'est à son nom qu'a été délivré le certificat de l'Automoto Storico Italiano (ASI) n°6883, dont la plaque dorée est fixée sur le tunnel de transmission.

Après avoir été exportée d’Italie en 2008 et achetée par la Scuderia Neuser, elle a fait l'objet d'importants travaux destinés à lui rendre sa superbe. La mécanique a été entièrement revue, y compris les trois gros carburateurs Weber 40 DCOE, et la carrosserie complètement restaurée. Elle est aujourd'hui en bel état avec une peinture très satisfaisante et des chromes sans défaut. L'habitacle bien équipé est doté d'une sellerie en simili noire refaite et d'un tableau de bord superbe comportant les beaux compteurs Jaeger siglé Abarth pour le tachymètre très typés compétition.

Avec ce modèle, Abarth souhaitait s'introduire sur le marché des sportives haut de gamme telles qu'Alfa 1900 ou Lancia Flaminia. Elle se basait sur la Fiat 2100 dont le moteur largement modifié passait de 82 à près de 135 ch, ce qui lui permettait de frôler 200 km/h. Elle recevait quatre freins à disque et, pour la carrosserie, Carlo Abarth s'est tourné vers Michelotti qui en a tracé un élégant dessin dont la fabrication a été confiée à la Carrozzeria Allemano. Produit en coupé et spider, ce modèle est resté confidentiel et n'a pas dépassé 30 exemplaires toutes versions confondues, Abarth étant sans doute trop concentré sur la compétition.

La voiture que nous proposons fait parties des premières sorties, avec sa calandre quatre phares très originale remplacée ensuite par une version plus simple à deux phares. Accompagnée de la copie des anciens documents italiens et de quelques factures, cette Abarth d'une grande rareté, mal connue, exclusive et offrant d'excellentes qualités routières ne peut qu'être remarquée par les amateurs de voitures sortant de l'ordinaire.

This car began its life in Italy, and after spending time during the 1980s in the Alessandria region, in 1992 it was owned by a Sig. G. Lotteri, from Cremona, with the registration number CR*484669. He was issued with the certificate of the Automoto Storico Italiano (ASI), no. 6883, and the gold ASI badge is attached to the transmission tunnel.

After it was exported from Italy in 2008 and bought by the Scuderia Neuser, extensive work was carried out to restore the car to its former glory. The engine was entirely overhauled, including the three big Weber 40 DCOE carburettors, and the body was completely restored. Today, it is in fine condition, with very satisfactory paintwork and faultless chrome. The well-equipped interior sports retrimmed black leatherette upholstery and a magnificent dashboard with attractive competition-style Jaeger instruments, with an Abarth logo on the rev counter.

 

With this model, Abarth wanted to break into the market for upmarket sports cars like the Alfa Romeo 1900 or Lancia Flaminia. It was based on the Fiat 2100, but the engine was substantially uprated, with power increasing from 82 to nearly 135bhp, enabling it to reach almost 200km/h. It was equipped with disc brakes all round, and for the bodywork, Carlo Abarth turned to Michelotti, who came up with an elegant design, which would be built by the Carrozzeria Allemano. Produced in coupé and spider form, the model was built in limited numbers, with fewer than 30 cars assembled (for all versions).

The car we are offering is one of the first to be completed, with the novel four-headlamp frontal treatment, which was later replaced by a simpler version with two headlamps. Sold with copies of its old Italian papers and some bills, this extremely rare and little-known Abarth is an exclusive model with excellent handling, which will not go unnoticed by lovers of unusual cars.
