Ce superbe Delaunay-Belleville a été immatriculée neuve le 6 novembre 1922 par Louis Clauzet, industriel dans le Cantal, puis elle est restée dans la même famille jusqu’en 1976, lorsqu’elle fut vendue au frère du mari de l’actuelle propriétaire. Des photos de cette époque montrent la voiture en état d’origine, puis ayant été restaurée. C’est en 1991 que le mari de l’actuelle propriétaire en fit l’acquisition, puis se lança dans une nouvelle restauration soignée, depuis le châssis, dont témoignent des photos. Parti d’une base complète et bien préservée, la restauration a pu permettre de conserver les nombreux détails qui caractérisent la haute qualité de construction qui caractérise la marque, tant du point de vue mécanique, qu’à bord de l’habitacle. Le haut moteur a bénéficié d’une remise en état plus récente, utilisant un bloc cylindres en bon état et nous avons pu constater son excellent fonctionnement, statique et dynamique. Outre un important dossier de photos, de documents techniques et historiques, cette automobile de qualité est accompagnée de deux moteurs et boîtes de vitesses en pièce détachées, de roues bois, ainsi qu’un radiateur appartenant à un modèle de taille supérieure, qu’il conviendra de récupérer auprès de sa propriétaire. Rare, intéressante et bien restaurée, cette Delaunay force l’admiration tant par son fonctionnement que par son allure racée.

This superb Delaunay-Belleville was registered new on 6 November 1922 by Louis Clauzet, an industrialist from the Cantal, and remained in the same family until 1976, when it was sold to the brother-in-law of its current lady owner. Photos from this period show the car in its original condition and then after its restoration. In 1991, it was acquired by the current owner’s husband, who set about a meticulous fresh restoration of the car from the chassis up, as can be seen in photographs. Starting from a complete and well-preserved base, the restoration allowed many of the details which characterize the high build quality typical of the make to be preserved, both from a mechanical point of view and with regard to the interior. The top end of the engine was restored more recently, using a cylinder block in good condition, and we were able to see how well it runs, both at a standstill and when the car is moving. As well as a substantial file of photographs, technical and historical documents, this high-quality motorcar comes with two engines and gearboxes as spares, wooden wheels and a radiator from a larger model, all to be collected from the owner. Rare, interesting and well restored, this Delaunay commands admiration, both for the way it drives and its stylish looks.
