La marque Ariès était réputée pour le raffinement de ses constructions et ses participations aux 24 Heures du Mans eurent un retentissement conséquent. Le châssis de cet exemplaire avait été acheté auprès de Michel Broual en 1999, puis c’est en 2008 que le père des actuels propriétaires en fit l’acquisition avant de se lancer dans une remise en état complète. Son examen montre que la partie avant a été réparée et rigidifiée. Le beau moteur semi-culbuté, conçu par Chenard et Walcker et exploité par Ariès fut entièrement restauré et est accolé à une boîte 3 vitesses. La carrosserie quant à elle, est une évocation de certaines Ariès qui prirent part aux 24 Heures du Mans quelques années avant la fabrication du modèle CB4. Elle fut réalisée en acier, sur une structure acier. Une fois achevée, la voiture fut utilisée, ainsi qu’en témoignent quelques vidéos, puis fut exposée au sein du musée automobile du Château de Vernon, pour le plus grand bonheur des visiteurs. N’ayant pas roulé depuis quelques années, elle devra bénéficier d’une remise en route qui ne devrait pas être compliquée. Elle constitue une occasion accessible d’entrer dans le monde des avant-guerres avec une marque renommée.

The Aries brand was renowned for the refinement of its manufacturing and its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans was highly regarded. The chassis of this example was purchased from Michael Broual in 1999; it was then acquired in 2008 by the current owners’ father, who embarked himself into a full restoration. An inspection indicates that the front end was repaired and reinforced. Designed by Chenard & Walcker and developed by Aries, the beautiful semi-overhead engine was fully rebuilt and connected to a three-speed gearbox. As for the bodywork, it is an evocation of specific Aries cars that raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans a few years prior to the CB4’s production. It was made of steel on a steel structure. Once completed and as evidenced by a few videos, the car was used and then exhibited at the Château de Vernon automobile museum, much to the delight of visitors. As it has not been driven for a few years now, it will need a restart, which should be straight-forward. This is an affordable opportunity to enter the world of pre-war cars with a renowned brand.
