Cette 500 SL fut livrée neuve en Allemagne à un amateur japonais. Désireux d’avoir certaines options spécifiques au marché américain (Airbag, régulateur de vitesse, climatisation automatique), il la commanda en spécifications américaine et fit très tôt européaniser le look de la voiture, ce qui en fait donc un exemplaire bénéficiant du meilleur des deux continents.

Cette 500SL est importée en France depuis le Japon en 2018 par le directeur général d’une grande entreprise de location automobile, désireux d’avoir un exemplaire de très grande qualité. L’export fut alors géré par la société Ecoburn Japan Ltd. qui fournit avec la voiture le certificat Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center (JEVIC) qui relève un kilométrage de 72.335 km en novembre 2017.

La voiture est alors revendue en 2019 à un autre amateur français puis en 2023 au propriétaire actuel. Ce dernier, soucieux d’avoir une voiture parfaite au niveau mécanique, la confie au spécialiste du modèle SL Factory. S’en suivent près de 25.000€ de travaux entre 2023 et 2026 incluant notamment la réfection complète du système d’injection (K-jetronic), une vidange de tous les fluides, la révision de l’ensemble des trains roulants, du système d’alimentation, ainsi que la réfection du tableau de bord et de la capote.

 

Affichant aujourd’hui environ 95.000 km, cette 500 SL présente un état charmant avec une cosmétique légèrement patinée et une mécanique fiabilisée. Le futur propriétaire de cette voiture aura le privilège de conduire une icône de sa génération, possédant probablement la meilleure motorisation de la gamme, prête à l’emmener sur nos routes cette été.

This 500 SL was delivered new in Germany to a Japanese enthusiast. Keen to have certain options specific to the American market (airbag, cruise control, automatic air conditioning), he ordered it with American specifications and had the car’s styling Europeanised very early on, making it a model that benefits from the best of both continents.

The car was imported from Japan to France in 2018 by the Managing Director of a major car hire company, who was keen to acquire an exceptionally high-quality example. The import was handled by Ecoburn Japan Ltd., who provided the car with a Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center (JEVIC) certificate showing a mileage of 72,335 km in November 2017.

The car was then sold in 2019 to another French enthuisiast and subsequently in 2023 to the current owner. Keen to ensure the car was in perfect mechanical condition, the latter entrusted it to the SL Factory specialist. This resulted in almost €25,000 worth of work carried out between 2023 and 2026, including a complete rebuild of the injection system (K-jetronic), a full fluid change, an overhaul of the entire running gear and fuel system, as well as restoration of the dashboard and soft top.

Now with a mileage of around 95,000 km, this 500 SL is in charming condition, with a lightly patinated appearance and a reliable engine. The next owner of this car will have the privilege of driving an icon of its generation, featuring what is probably the best engine in the range and ready to hit the road this summer.
