Sa renommée en course, son palmarès et sa faible production estimée à 3 532 exemplaires de route font de la 2600 RS une voiture exclusive. L’exemplaire présenté a été acheté par son actuel propriétaire il y’a une vingtaine d’années. Connaisseur et consciencieux, ce dernier a fait bénéficier à la voiture d’une restauration complète accompagnée d’une préparation minutieuse. Un important dossier de factures de plus de 70 000 € témoigne de ces travaux. La carrosserie a été intégralement repeinte en s’inspirant de la superbe livrée de la célèbre 2600 RS pilotée par François Cevert en 1972. La mécanique a été particulièrement soignée, avec un démontage complet du moteur suivi d’une remise en état. Une boîte de vitesses à étagement rallye et levier quickshift fut adaptée, complétée du gros pont Atlas avec rapport de 3.75. A bord, un arceau 6 points boulonné, des baquets en cuir, un système d’intercom, un Tripmaster, ou encore des chronomètres Heuer affirment les vocations de cette RS. La voiture a bénéficié d’un allègement avec capot et malle de coffre en fibre de verre, et de nombreux détails témoignent de la volonté d’avoir une voiture fiable. Depuis, 2500 km ont été parcourus, et la voiture a participé au Tour Auto 2017. Accompagnée d’un lot de pièces qui seront à récupérer auprès du vendeur (ouvrants en acier, pont, etc…), cette belle et rare 2600 RS est éligible dans de nombreuses compétitions, elle n’attend qu’un nouveau pilote pour s’illustrer tant sur circuit que lors de spéciales.

Its reputation and results in racing, as well as its production estimated at only 3532 road cars, make the 2600 RS an exclusive model. This example was bought by its current owner about twenty years ago. A painstaking connoisseur, he had the car fully restored and meticulously prepared. A large file of invoices for more than 70,000 € shows the extent of the work. The body was completely repainted, taking its inspiration from the magnificent livery of the famous 2600 RS driven by François Cevert in 1972. Particular care was taken over the mechanical work, and the engine was completely stripped down and reconditioned. A gearbox with ratios for rallying and a quickshift lever was fitted, in combination with an Atlas rear axle with a 3.75:1 final drive ratio. Inside, a six-point bolted roll cage, leather bucket seats, an intercom system, a Tripmaster and Heuer stopwatches affirm the sporting vocation of this RS. Its weight has been reduced thanks to a fibreglass bonnet and boot lid, and numerous details show the owner’s desire to make this a reliable car. Since then, it has covered 2500 km, and the car took part in the 2017 Tour Auto. Supplied with a set of parts to be collected from the seller (steel panels, rear axle etc.), this rare and good-looking 2600 RS is eligible for many competitive events and needs only a new driver to make its mark on track or rally stages.
