Les Mustang engagées en course par l’écurie Ford France dans les années 60 ont marqué les esprits, et on se souvient notamment de l’exemplaire piloté par Johnny Hallyday à Montlhéry en 1967. C’est dans cet état d’esprit que l’exemplaire présenté, vendu neuf en France et authentique coupé GT 390 Code S équipé du big bloc de 6.3L et 325cv à l’origine, a été entièrement démonté, restauré et préparé pour répondre aux normes FIA au début des années 2000. Un important dossier de photos témoigne du soin apporté à l’ensemble des opérations. Un arceau 6 points soudé avait été installé, après que la voiture ait été entièrement décapée et mise en apprêt. Elle a ensuite reçu la fameuse livrée Ford France avec dessus de capot et ailes avant bleu marine, et bandes bleu marine et rouge sur le pavillon et le coffre. L’habitacle a été entièrement remis en état et adapté pour la course. La mécanique a quant à elle été entièrement démontée et restaurée. La voiture a ensuite participé au Tour Auto 2004 en compétition, puis à diverses courses. Son dernier PTH date de 2005 et sera donc à refaire. La voiture a bénéficié de plusieurs opérations d’entretien depuis, dont témoigne un dossier de factures, et son dernier roulage date de 2019. Elle a été depuis utilisée plus sporadiquement sur route, et méritera une mise à niveau pour reprendre le chemin de la compétition, où la puissance de son V8 et le soin de sa préparation devraient permettre d’obtenir des résultats significatifs. Réaliser une telle voiture sur une base authentique nécessiterait aujourd’hui un budget faramineux, sachez profiter de cette belle opportunité.

Mustang racing cars run by Ford France in the 1960s made a lasting impression and the car driven by Johnny Hallyday at Montlhéry in 1967 is particularly well remembered. Originally sold new in France and as an authentic GT 390 Code S Coupe fitted with the original 6.3-litre big-block engine producing 325 hp, this particular car was fully stripped down, restored and prepared to meet FIA standards in the early 2000s. A substantial file of photos bears witness to the meticulous care taken throughout the process. A welded 6-point roll cage was fitted after the car had been completely stripped and primed. It was then given the famous Ford France livery, featuring a navy blue bonnet and front wings, as well as navy blue and red stripes on the roof and boot. The interior was completely redone and adapted for racing. The mechanical components were fully stripped down and rebuilt. The car subsequently competed in the 2004 Tour Auto, followed by various other races. Its last HTP was in 2005 and will therefore need to be renewed. As evidenced by a file of invoices, the car was serviced several times since then and was last driven in 2019. It has since been driven sporadically on the road and will require servicing in order to return to racing, where the power of its V8 and the care taken in its preparation should enable it to achieve significant results. Building a car like this from scratch today would require a huge budget, so make the most of this wonderful opportunity.
